Jaipur Ambulance Staff Demand Service Restart, Threaten Agitation

Jaipur Ambulance Staff Rally for Service Revival

Nearly 1,200 employees of the suspended 104 Janani Express ambulance service gathered in Jaipur on Monday. They met to pressure the government into restarting the critical service. The employees held a statewide meeting in Jhotwara, Jaipur. They decided to launch an agitation to demand timely action on the tender for operating the ambulances.

Union President Highlights Tender Expiry and Negligence

Virendra Singh Shekhawat, president of the Rajasthan ambulance employees union, spoke at the meeting. He explained that the tender previously awarded to Modern Emergency Services expired on December 10, 2025. This company had been operating the 104 Janani Express ambulance service across Rajasthan. Shekhawat blamed senior officials for negligence. He said their failure to issue or renew the tender on time caused the ambulance service to shut down. This shutdown left 1,200 employees without jobs.

Unpaid Salaries Add to Employee Grievances

Shekhawat also raised serious allegations about unpaid wages. He stated that employees of the 104 Janani Express did not receive their salaries for September, October, and November. This financial hardship compounds the stress of unemployment for the staff. The union is now mobilizing to address both the service suspension and the salary issues.

The employees' meeting concluded with a firm resolution. They will intensify their agitation if the government does not act quickly. The group demands immediate steps to award the tender and resume ambulance operations. They also seek resolution of the unpaid salary matter. The situation highlights broader concerns about healthcare service management in the state.
