Sirsa MLA Gokul Setia Files Police Complaint Over Impersonation Fraud

Sirsa MLA Gokul Setia has taken swift action against an alleged fraud attempt. He lodged a formal complaint with the superintendent of police in Sirsa. The complaint centers on an unidentified person who tried to deceive others by posing as the MLA's personal assistant.

Details of the Fraudulent Scheme

According to the complaint, the impersonator first contacted an air ticket booking operator. The caller claimed to be acting on behalf of MLA Gokul Setia. He attempted to book a flight from Chandigarh to Jaipur. When this initial effort failed, the accused reportedly tried a different approach the very next day.

The fraudster then contacted another acquaintance of the MLA. This time, the impersonator directly demanded money. The matter quickly came to the attention of MLA Gokul Setia himself. He did not hesitate to act upon learning of these events.

MLA's Immediate Response and Police Action

MLA Gokul Setia immediately approached Sirsa SP Deepak Saharan. He submitted a detailed written complaint about the incident. The MLA provided the police with crucial evidence to aid their investigation. This evidence included the mobile number used by the impersonator and relevant call details.

Acting on this complaint, the police have now initiated a full investigation. Their primary goal is to identify and apprehend the caller. So far, the impersonator remains unidentified, but the investigation is actively ongoing.

Not the First Such Incident for the MLA

This is not the first time MLA Gokul Setia has faced such impersonation attempts. In a previous incident, another person claimed to be his personal assistant. That individual contacted a police station and offered to facilitate the release of an accused in a theft case.

MLA Setia personally exposed that fraud at the time. He went live on social media to warn the public. He appealed to people not to act on any instructions issued in his name unless confirmed directly by him. This warning applied even if the call appeared to originate from his office.

Recent Events and Media Statements

Speaking to media persons, MLA Gokul Setia provided further details about the latest incident. He explained that on the night of January 7, his actual personal assistant, Mansingh, received a call. The call came from Harit Kumar, an operator at SK Computer.

Harit informed the legislator that a man had contacted him. This man identified himself as Jasbir Puri and claimed to be the MLA's PA. He requested the booking of an air ticket from Chandigarh to Jaipur. He suggested that payment for the ticket should be collected from the MLA's office.

Mansingh quickly clarified that no such personal assistant existed in the MLA's office. He immediately warned the operator that the caller was a fraud. He advised him not to proceed with any booking based on that request.

MLA Setia confirmed that all relevant phone numbers and call records were handed over to the police. The authorities are now tracing these calls diligently. Their aim is to identify and apprehend the accused person behind these fraudulent activities.
