Major IPS Reshuffle in Uttar Pradesh: 24 Officers Transferred Across Key Posts
In a significant administrative move, the Uttar Pradesh government on Wednesday announced the transfer of 24 Indian Police Service (IPS) officers, including several holding the rank of additional director general (ADG). This reshuffle affects key positions across the state, with notable changes in Lucknow, Ayodhya, and other major districts.
Key Appointments in Lucknow and Ayodhya
Praveen Kumar, who previously served as ADG of the Ayodhya range, has been appointed as ADG of the Lucknow zone. This move places him in a crucial role overseeing law and order in the state capital. Meanwhile, Sujeet Pandey, the former director general (DG) or ADG of the Lucknow zone, has been reassigned as the director general of fire and emergency services, which is headquartered in Lucknow.
In another important change, Somen Barma has been posted as the deputy inspector general (DIG) of the Ayodhya range. He was earlier serving as the superintendent of police (SP) in Mirzapur.
Reassignments in Kanpur and Varanasi
The reshuffle also includes significant postings in Kanpur and Varanasi. VK Singh, who held the position of joint commissioner of police (JCP) in the Kanpur Nagar commissionerate, has been transferred to the Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Police Academy in Moradabad as inspector general. Additionally, ACP Ghaziabad Alok Priyadarshi has been moved to Varanasi in the same capacity.
In Kanpur, Sankalp Sharma, the former SP of Kheri, and Vipin Tada, the former SSP of Meerut, have both been appointed as joint commissioners of police in Kanpur Nagar.
District-Level Transfers and New Postings
The transfers extend to various districts, with several officers taking on new responsibilities. RK Nayyar has been moved from the position of DIG or SSP in Gorakhpur to become ACP in Ghaziabad. Kaustubh, the former SP of Jaunpur, is now the new SSP of Gorakhpur.
Other notable changes include:
- Kunwar Anupam, previously SP of Sultanpur, has been posted as SP of Jaunpur.
- Charu Nigam, commandant of PAC Ghaziabad, is now the SP of Sultanpur.
- Aparna Rajat Kaushik, former SP of Amethi, has been appointed as SP of Mirzapur.
- Sarvanan T, additional DCP in Varanasi, is now the SP of Amethi.
Appointments in Anti-Terrorist Squad and Police Headquarters
In a move related to security, Abhishek Yadav, the former SP of Pilibhit, has been transferred to the Anti-Terrorist Squad in Lucknow as DIG. Sukirti Madhav, who was SP intelligence, is now the SP of Pilibhit.
At the UP Police headquarters, Ashish Tiwari, former SSP of Saharanpur, has been appointed as DIG of Technical Services. Abhinandan, the former SP of Basti, is now the SSP of Saharanpur, while Yashveer Singh, former SP of Rae Bareli, has been posted as SP of Basti.
Additional Changes and New Roles
The reshuffle includes several other appointments. Ravi Kumar, a commandant in the Provincial Armed Constabulary (PAC), has been posted as SP of Rae Bareli. Pratap Gopendra Yadav has been appointed as DIG in the DGP headquarters.
Furthermore, Anukriti Sharma, who was additional SP in Sambhal, has been made additional DCP in Gautam Budh Nagar. KS Emmanuel, IG of the economic offences wing, has been appointed as IG and GSO to the director general of police (DGP).
In the PAC, Khyati Garg, a commandant, is now the SP of Kheri, and Avnish Pandey, another commandant, has been posted as SSP of Meerut.
This comprehensive reshuffle aims to optimize police administration and enhance law enforcement efficiency across Uttar Pradesh, reflecting the state government's focus on strategic placements in key areas.
