The Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati (IIT-G) has officially launched a new Master of Technology (MTech) programme in Robotics and Artificial Intelligence. This programme is designed for fresh graduates as well as working professionals who aim to build specialized expertise in AI-driven robotics systems.
Programme Details and Mode of Delivery
Offered by the School of Interdisciplinary Studies and Sustainability, the programme will be delivered in a hybrid mode. This includes online classes combined with on-campus laboratory sessions and final examinations conducted at IIT Guwahati. The hybrid structure allows flexibility for working professionals while ensuring hands-on experience.
Eligibility and Admission Process
A notable feature of this programme is that applicants are not required to have a GATE score. Instead, admission will be based on a written test and an interview conducted by the institute. This opens doors for candidates from diverse engineering backgrounds who may not have taken the GATE examination.
The programme aims to bridge multiple engineering disciplines, fostering development in sectors such as agriculture, defence, manufacturing, healthcare, transportation, and smart infrastructure. Students will engage with cutting-edge topics including machine learning, computer vision, and robotics.
Application Timeline and Duration
The application portal for the first batch is now open. The deadline to submit applications is July 15, and classes are scheduled to commence on August 10. The programme has a minimum duration of two years, with the flexibility to extend up to five years, accommodating the needs of working professionals.
