Tata Punch Facelift Launched: New Design & Turbo Engine

Tata Punch Facelift Hits Indian Roads with Fresh Look and More Power

Tata Motors has officially launched the much-anticipated facelift of its popular Punch micro SUV in the Indian market. The updated model arrives with a starting price of ₹5.59 lakh, ex-showroom. This new version brings a host of significant upgrades, including a sharper exterior design, a more technology-packed cabin, and an expanded engine lineup. Importantly, it retains the strong safety credentials that made the previous model a favorite among buyers.

1. A Bold New Exterior Stance

The most striking change is immediately visible at the front. Tata has completely redesigned the fascia, giving the Punch a more modern and aggressive appearance. Repositioned headlamp units contribute to this fresh look. While the side profile remains largely familiar, new alloy wheel designs add a touch of freshness to the vehicle's stance.

At the rear, the updates are even more prominent. The tail lamps have been redesigned and are now connected by a full-width LED light bar. A reworked rear bumper completes the exterior transformation, making the Punch look thoroughly contemporary and ready for today's roads.

2. Cabin Inspired by the Punch EV

Step inside, and you will find a cabin that takes inspiration from the Punch EV. The dashboard layout has been revised, featuring cleaner lines and redesigned air vents. The black and white interior theme continues, but the overall feel is more upmarket and sophisticated.

A new two-spoke steering wheel aligns the Punch with Tata's latest design language. The cabin now feels more modern and better integrated, offering a premium experience for both driver and passengers.

3. Bigger Screens and Advanced Technology

A major highlight is the new 10.25-inch Ultra View HD touchscreen infotainment system. This replaces the earlier 7-inch unit and supports wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It also displays the feed from the blind spot monitor, enhancing safety.

The instrument cluster has been upgraded to a 17.78 cm fully digital display. For added convenience, the 2026 Punch gains a 360-degree camera system, making tight city driving maneuvers much easier and safer.

4. Enhanced Comfort and Convenience Features

The facelift introduces several features that were previously missing. Key additions include a voice-assisted electric sunroof with native voice recognition, automatic climate control, and an air purifier. Other notable upgrades are a wireless smartphone charger with Xpress Cool, a front 65W Type-C fast charger, ambient lighting, an auto-dimming IRVM, rain-sensing wipers, and follow-me-home headlamps.

The infotainment system is paired with four speakers and four tweeters. It also includes iRA 2.0 connected car technology, offering more than 50 features to keep you connected and in control on the go.

5. New Turbo-Petrol Engine Option

Under the bonnet, the standard 1.2-litre three-cylinder petrol engine continues, producing 88 hp and 115 Nm of torque. It is available with either a 5-speed manual or a 5-speed AMT gearbox.

The big mechanical news is the introduction of a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine. This unit delivers a robust 118 hp and 170 Nm of torque, promising enhanced performance. Prices for the iTurbo variants start at ₹8.29 lakh, ex-showroom. The Punch also continues to offer an AMT CNG option, maintaining its status as India's first CNG SUV with an AMT.

Key Takeaways from the Launch

  • The new turbo-petrol engine offers a significant performance boost with 118 hp.
  • The upgraded infotainment system supports wireless connectivity and advanced safety features.
  • The 360-degree camera enhances both safety and convenience, especially for urban driving conditions.
