Pulse Polio Campaign Kicks Off in Jalandhar
The national pulse polio campaign commenced in Jalandhar district on June 28 and will continue through June 30, aiming to administer polio drops to all children aged 0 to 5 years. The drive covers brick kilns, under-construction sites, courtyards, and other migratory settlements across the district.
Health Department Mobilises 2,203 Teams
Civil Surgeon Jalandhar Dr Rajesh Garg has directed all health teams to ensure full coverage and that no child is left out. A total of 2,203 teams have been formed: 2,107 house-to-house teams, 66 mobile teams, and 30 transit teams. These teams will visit 5,41,258 houses in rural and urban areas to administer polio drops to 1,96,657 children. Additionally, 715 high-risk areas have been identified and will be covered. The Health Department has deployed 267 supervisors to oversee the campaign.
Rickshaw Rally Flagged Off for Awareness
To spread public awareness, Civil Surgeon Dr Rajesh Garg flagged off a rickshaw rally from the office of the Civil Surgeon Jalandhar on Friday. He appealed to residents to cooperate with health teams and protect their children from polio by ensuring they receive the drops.
District Vaccination Officer Dr Simranjit Kaur, District Family Welfare Officer Dr Vaninder Riar, Dr Dev, Dr Monica, and other Health Department employees were present at the event.
