Bengaluru Police Crack Down on Drug Trade with Major Arrests
In a significant operation against narcotics trafficking, Bengaluru police have apprehended two individuals and confiscated drugs valued at around Rs 1 crore. The Central Crime Branch (CCB) of the Bengaluru police executed these arrests on Wednesday, dealing a blow to the city's illicit drug network.
Details of the Arrested Individuals
The police identified the two arrested accused clearly. Uche Ndudi, a 25-year-old Nigerian national, faces charges of drug peddling. He resided within the jurisdiction of Bengaluru's KR Puram police station. The second individual is Akash, a resident of Begur in Bengaluru. Authorities have not yet confirmed Akash's exact age, but they are working to ascertain this detail.
Operation Against Foreign National
Police officers acted on specific intelligence regarding Uche Ndudi's activities. Information indicated that this foreign national was actively involved in drug trafficking from his location in KR Puram. Following this tip, the CCB conducted a raid and successfully arrested Ndudi. During the operation, officials also recovered a mobile phone and a two-wheeler. They believe the accused used these items for transporting contraband substances.
Second Raid in Begur Area
In a separate but coordinated effort, CCB officials targeted another suspect based in AECS Layout. This area falls under the limits of the Begur police station. Inputs suggested that a person there was supplying hydro ganja, a banned narcotic substance, to various contacts. Acting swiftly on this information, the police conducted a raid and arrested Akash. From his possession, they seized hydro ganja with an estimated value of Rs 48 lakh. Additionally, officers confiscated other materials used in the commission of the offence.
Ongoing Investigations and Seizure Value
The total value of the seized narcotics from both operations amounts to approximately Rs 1 crore. This substantial haul underscores the scale of the drug trade being targeted. Bengaluru police have emphasized that further investigations are currently underway. They are pursuing all leads to uncover more details about the drug network and possible accomplices.
The arrests highlight the police's continued vigilance against drug peddling in the city. By taking decisive action, authorities aim to disrupt the supply chain and prevent the distribution of harmful substances. Residents have expressed support for these efforts, hoping for a safer community free from narcotics influence.
