Ghaziabad police made a grim discovery on Wednesday morning. They recovered a charred body from inside a burnt auto-rickshaw in the Tronica City area. Officers suspect foul play, believing the victim was killed and the body set on fire to hide the person's identity.
Locals Alert Police to Burnt Vehicle
Local residents first spotted the burnt auto on Ghitora Road. They quickly alerted the police. Officers arrived at the scene and conducted an inspection. They found the body placed in the lower rear portion of the three-wheeler.
Preliminary observations pointed to a disturbing sequence of events. Someone placed the body inside the auto-rickshaw and then set the vehicle ablaze. The fire caused extensive damage. Both the auto and the corpse were almost completely charred.
Police Respond and Secure the Scene
Siddharth Gautam, the Assistant Commissioner of Police for the Aloni area, provided details. Police received information about the incident around 8 am. A team rushed to the spot immediately.
"We found skeletal remains inside the burnt auto," ACP Gautam stated. "The body has been sent for post-mortem examination. We are now awaiting the report."
Authorities called in additional resources to aid the investigation. A forensic team and a dog squad examined the crime scene thoroughly. The ACP noted a key challenge. It is not yet clear whether the deceased was a man or a woman due to the severe burns.
Clues from the Vehicle and a Missing Owner
During their investigation, police recovered a crucial piece of evidence. They found a number plate with the registration UP 14 PT 5862. This clue led them to the auto-rickshaw's owner.
A senior police officer revealed the vehicle belongs to a young man. This youth resides in Dabar Talab Colony in Loni. He has been missing from his home for the past several days.
"His family members are unaware of his whereabouts," the officer said. "The incident will become clearer once we establish identification."
Identification and Cause of Death Remain Unclear
ACP Siddharth Gautam emphasized the ongoing uncertainty. The identity of the deceased person is yet to be confirmed. The exact cause of death will only be known after the post-mortem report is available.
Police are actively working to identify the victim. They are checking missing person reports from nearby police stations. This step could provide a vital lead in the case.
Probe Faces CCTV Challenge
The investigation faces a significant hurdle regarding video evidence. Police confirmed there were no CCTV cameras installed directly at the crime scene. However, investigators are not giving up. They are examining footage from cameras along adjoining roads as part of the probe.
The case remains open. Ghaziabad police continue their efforts to piece together the events that led to this tragic discovery in Tronica City.
