Police Identify Pillion Rider in Shalimar Bagh Murder

Delhi Police have made a significant breakthrough in the murder case of Shalimar Bagh's Residents' Welfare Association president. After scanning more than one hundred CCTV cameras, investigators have obtained a clear image of the pillion rider on the motorcycle used in the attack.

No Arrests Made Yet

So far, police have not made any arrests in this case. An officer confirmed that the image was shown to the victim's family members. They did not recognize the individual.

"We then ran the image through our Facial Recognition System," a senior officer explained. "The system revealed no criminal background for this person. We have now shared the image with all Delhi Police detection units. They have received instructions to track him down."

The Fatal Attack

The incident occurred on Saturday morning. Rachna Yadav, the 44-year-old RWA president, was returning home after attending a neighbor's funeral procession. Two men on a motorcycle approached her near her Shalimar Bagh residence.

"The attack happened at 10:49 am," the officer stated. "Rachna was washing her hands near a water pot at that moment. One attacker called her name from behind. Another shooter fired at point-blank range into her head. Both men fled the scene immediately."

Location Significance

This murder took place in a sensitive area. The crime scene was close to Chief Minister Rekha Gupta's residence. It was also near a police post, highlighting the brazen nature of the attack.

CCTV Investigation Reveals Escape Route

After registering an FIR, police began examining CCTV footage extensively. They traced the attackers' movements throughout Delhi.

"The two men arrived from Budh Vihar," the officer detailed. "They entered Shalimar Bagh around 7:30 am. Following the murder, they headed toward Pitampura on their motorcycle. They reached the Outer Ring Road and appeared on camera at Madhuban Chowk. Then they turned right toward Rohini."

Vehicle Abandonment and Further Escape

Police discovered that the attackers abandoned their motorcycle near Rohini Heliport. They then boarded a private Gramin Sewa vehicle. Each man paid the driver twenty rupees for the ride to Barwala village.

Investigators confirmed that the motorcycle used in the crime was stolen. The theft occurred from the Netaji Subhash Place police station area last September.

Previous Family Tragedy

This murder represents another tragedy for Rachna Yadav's family. Her husband, Vijendra Yadav, was gunned down on May 22, 2023. He was attending a community langar near his office when attackers killed him.

Police records show Vijendra Yadav had a criminal history. He was a history-sheeter from Jahangirpuri. Authorities had arrested him previously on murder charges and other crimes.

Ongoing Investigation into Previous Murder

Police arrested five men for Vijendra Yadav's murder. The prime suspect, Bharat Yadav, faces accusations of criminal conspiracy. He has been absconding since the 2023 incident.

"We announced a reward of fifty thousand rupees for information leading to Bharat Yadav's capture," an officer said. "Authorities have also issued a lookout circular against him."

Current Probe Connections

Investigators are now examining Bharat Yadav's potential role in Rachna Yadav's murder. The officer added that this connection forms part of their ongoing probe.

Delhi Police continue their investigation. They urge anyone with information about the pillion rider or the case to come forward immediately.
