Tragic Accident Claims Woman's Life in Pune's Nigdi Area
A fatal road accident occurred at Thermax Chowk in Nigdi on Tuesday evening. A trailer truck collided with a scooter, resulting in the death of a 31-year-old woman. Her relative sustained minor injuries in the incident.
Victims Identified by Police
The Nigdi police identified the deceased woman as Asha Lokhande. She was a resident of Nigdi. Her relative, Sushila Ghodke, aged 45, suffered minor injuries. Ghodke was driving the scooter at the time of the accident.
Details of the Collision
According to police officers, both women were traveling towards Nigdi on the scooter. Neither of them wore a helmet. A trailer truck was moving in the same direction. The truck brushed against the scooter while attempting to overtake it.
This contact caused Ghodke to lose balance. She fell on the left side of the road. Lokhande fell on the opposite side. Tragically, she came under the wheels of the trailer truck. She died instantly at the spot.
Police Action and Case Registration
The trailer truck driver abandoned his vehicle at the accident site. Nigdi police later traced the driver. They registered a case against him for causing death due to negligence. This action followed a formal complaint lodged by Sushila Ghodke.
