Three Dead, Six Injured in Tragic Highway Collision in Barwani District
A devastating head-on collision between a two-wheeler and a pickup vehicle on the Agra–Mumbai National Highway has claimed three lives and left six others injured. The accident occurred late Thursday in the Thikri police station area of Barwani district, sending shockwaves through the local community.
Details of the Fatal Collision
According to Barwani Incharge SP Dheeraj Babbar, the incident took place at Golanjya Phata on AB Road. A motorcycle carrying two riders was traveling from the wrong direction when it collided head-on with a pickup vehicle transporting labourers. The impact was so severe that the pickup overturned immediately after the crash.
The collision resulted in three immediate fatalities:
- Vinod Mujalde (19), resident of Raswa village, Khargone district
- Rajesh Mujalde (22), also from Raswa village, Khargone district
- Roshni Sastre (20), resident of Samartalai, Thikri police station area
All three victims were pronounced dead at the scene. The two Mujalde men were riding the motorcycle, while Roshni Sastre was a passenger in the pickup vehicle.
Injured Victims and Medical Response
The accident left six people with varying degrees of injuries. Two women sustained serious wounds and required advanced medical attention:
- Roshni Dawar (19), resident of Samartalai village
- Kesari Bai (42), also from Samartalai village
Both seriously injured women were promptly referred to the district hospital in Barwani for specialized treatment. Their condition remains under close medical supervision.
Four other occupants of the pickup vehicle received minor injuries in the collision:
- Lalita Dawar (17)
- Sharmila (30)
- Hiralal (30)
- Bablu (18)
All injured individuals were labourers returning from construction work, with a mixer machine loaded on their pickup vehicle at the time of the accident.
Police Investigation and Legal Proceedings
Local authorities responded swiftly to the tragedy. Police reached the accident site promptly after receiving information about the collision and initiated a comprehensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding the fatal crash.
The bodies of the deceased were sent for post-mortem examination on Friday, as part of standard investigative procedures. Following the necessary formalities, a formal case has been registered with the Thikri police station to document the incident and determine liability.
