Himachal Police Destroy Rs 2 Crore Drugs in Anti-Chitta Campaign

On the International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking, the Himachal Pradesh Police destroyed narcotics valued at Rs 2.04 crore in Baddi as part of the ongoing 'Anti-Chitta' campaign, marking a significant step against drug trafficking networks.

Seized Substances Destroyed

The operation led to the destruction of 868 grams of charas, 1.830 grams of chitta, 1,200 Microlit tablets, 88 Spas Pokran capsules, 1,315.187 kg of poppy husk, 2.500 kg of cannabis (ganja), and 2,100 opium plants. These substances were seized in various cases registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.

Safe Disposal at Authorized Facility

The destruction was carried out under the supervision of Baddi Superintendent of Police (SP) Vinod Dhiman, in alignment with the state government's Zero Tolerance Policy against drug trafficking. According to SP Dhiman, the narcotics were scientifically and safely disposed of at a government-authorised incineration facility. He stated, "Narcotic substances seized in various cases registered under the NDPS Act were scientifically and safely disposed of at a government-authorised incineration facility."

Sending a Strong Message

SP Dhiman emphasized that the initiative aims not only at the safe disposal of seized narcotics but also at sending a clear message that drug trafficking and the illegal drug trade have no place in Himachal Pradesh. He said, "The initiative was not only aimed at the safe disposal of seized narcotics but also at sending a strong message that there is no place for drug trafficking or the illegal drug trade in Himachal Pradesh."

Commitment to Eliminate Drug Menace

The Baddi police remain fully committed to taking strict action against drug-related crimes and will continue their sustained campaign to eliminate the drug menace from society. SP Dhiman appealed to the public, especially the youth, to actively support the anti-drug movement and immediately report any information related to drug trafficking or suspicious activities to the police.
