JD(S) Plans Retaliatory Poster Campaign in Delhi
The Janata Dal (Secular) has threatened to launch a poster campaign in the national capital targeting Karnataka Congress leaders, in retaliation for posters that targeted party chief H D Kumaraswamy and his family members. Former MLA H M Ramesh Gowda strongly criticised the Congress for the alleged act, calling it a deliberate attempt to malign the JD(S) leadership.
Congress Accused of Targeting Kumaraswamy Family
According to H M Ramesh Gowda, posters were put up in various parts of Karnataka that depicted Kumaraswamy and his family in a negative light. He accused the Congress party of orchestrating the campaign to undermine the JD(S) ahead of upcoming elections. “The Congress is trying to divert attention from its own failures by attacking our leaders,” Gowda said in a statement.
Retaliation Plan: Posters in Delhi
In response, the JD(S) has decided to put up posters in Delhi highlighting what it claims are the misdeeds of Karnataka Congress leaders. The party plans to target senior Congress figures, including those in the state government. Gowda warned that the campaign would expose the “corruption and inefficiency” of the Congress leadership in Karnataka.
Political Tensions Escalate in Karnataka
The poster war marks an escalation in tensions between the JD(S) and Congress in Karnataka, where both parties are key players in the state’s political landscape. The JD(S), led by former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda and his son Kumaraswamy, has often clashed with the Congress over issues of governance and alliance politics. The latest incident is likely to further strain relations between the two parties.
JD(S) Calls for Action Against Congress
H M Ramesh Gowda demanded that the Congress leadership take action against those responsible for the posters targeting Kumaraswamy. He warned that if the Congress did not rein in its workers, the JD(S) would intensify its campaign. “We will not sit idle while our leaders are insulted,” he added.
