Kerala Chief Minister V D Satheesan has stated that the United Democratic Front (UDF) was not informed in advance that the full version of Vande Mataram would be sung during the swearing-in ceremony of the UDF Cabinet. The issue has triggered sharp political reactions, with the Communist Party of India (Marxist) questioning the decision to sing the complete rendition of the national song at the event.
Political Reactions Emerge
The CPI(M) has raised objections, arguing that singing the full Vande Mataram at a government ceremony was inappropriate and politically motivated. The party has demanded an explanation from the UDF leadership regarding the sequence of events.
CM's Clarification
Addressing the controversy, CM Satheesan clarified that the UDF had no prior knowledge of the full song being performed. He emphasized that the arrangement was made by the protocol team without consulting the political leadership.
The incident has added to the ongoing political tensions in Kerala, with both sides exchanging barbs over the matter. The UDF has accused the CPI(M) of creating unnecessary controversy, while the Left party insists on accountability.
