Block Development Office in Farakka Ransacked, Poll Official Injured

A shocking incident unfolded in Murshidabad district on Monday afternoon. Unidentified men allegedly stormed the Block Development Office in Farakka. They ransacked the government property, leaving a poll official injured during the chaos.

BJP MLA Levels Serious Allegations Against Ruling TMC

BJP MLA Gouri Sankar launched a sharp attack following the vandalism. He directly accused Farakka's ruling TMC MLA, Manirul Islam, of leading the destructive group. Sankar spoke to news agency ANI, expressing outrage at the actions of a public representative.

"Today, Farakka MLA Manirul Islam vandalised the block office," Sankar stated. "How can a public representative vandalise property? Who gave him the right to do so?"

His comments took a provocative turn as he questioned the allegiance of those involved. "Are they not Indian citizens, or are they Bangladeshis who think they can vandalise a block office in India?" he asked.

Accusations Extend to Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee

The BJP MLA did not stop at the local MLA. He extended his accusations to West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee. Sankar claimed she is instigating her party cadres across the state to commit riots and violence.

"Mamata Banerjee is instigating her party cadres across the state to riot, commit violence, and destroy property," the BJP alleged. The party statement insisted that all such actions occur under her direct instructions.

"All these actions are carried out under Mamata Banerjee's instructions. And wherever there was corruption, misconduct, or destruction in Bengal, all of it happened under Mamata's orders," the BJP said.

Details of the Incident from the Official Complaint

Block Development Officer Junaid Ahamed filed a written complaint about the incident. According to his account, the attack happened around 1:30 PM. A Summary Revision hearing was underway at the office at that time.

The BDO stated that a group of unknown individuals suddenly entered multiple official rooms. They vandalised government property in front of several officials present. Witnesses included BLOs, the Joint BDO, the OC Election, and other Assistant Electoral Registration Officers.

During the ensuing chaos, one AERO reportedly sustained injuries. He was hurt while trying to shield himself from the attackers.

Police Action and Political Repercussions

The Farakka police station registered a case against the miscreants. Charges were filed under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and the PDPP Act. Following the registration, police made two arrests in connection with the ongoing investigation.

Gouri Sankar warned of political consequences. He said the public is watching these events closely. The BJP MLA predicted a strong response from voters in the 2026 West Bengal assembly elections.

"The public is ready to give them a befitting reply. In the 2026 elections, whether it's Manirul or someone else, they will get their answer from the public," Sankar declared.

This incident adds another layer of tension to the already charged political atmosphere in West Bengal. It highlights ongoing conflicts between the ruling Trinamool Congress and the opposition BJP at the local level.
