Dharwad Deputy Commissioner Divya Prabhu made a clear statement on Wednesday. She said there is currently no Special Summary Revision of electoral rolls happening in the district. Therefore, no process has started to delete any voter names from the electoral list.
Focus on Voter Mapping Work
Prabhu explained that the district is currently engaged only in voter mapping work. This work has reached an overall progress of 63.8 percent. She emphasized that the remaining tasks must be finished within the set timeframe.
Preparations for Future Revision
Chairing a review meeting on voter list mapping, the DC provided more details. She said preparatory work is being carried out for a future Special Summary Revision. This follows directions from the chief electoral officer of Karnataka.
As part of this exercise, voters included in the 2025 electoral roll are being matched with the 2002 electoral roll. The matching uses two methods: direct matching and progeny mapping, which involves family linkage.
Progress Report Details
According to a progress report dated January 8, 2026, issued by the chief electoral officer, mapping details have been incorporated. This includes information for voters aged 40 and above, along with family member data. The data is now part of the 2025 electoral rolls for all seven assembly constituencies in Dharwad district.

The report breaks down the progress for each constituency:
- Navalgund: Mapping completed for 90,759 voters, achieving 75.1% progress.

- Voter mapping: 59.6% progress.
- Family member linkage: 69.1% progress.
- Combined matching and progeny mapping: 63.8% progress.
Instructions for Timely Completion
To ensure the exercise finishes on time, Divya Prabhu gave specific instructions. She told electoral registration officers to properly guide booth level officers. She also asked them to coordinate with police officials. This coordination aims to prevent any untoward incidents during the mapping process.
The DC's clarification comes amid concerns about voter list changes. Her detailed update provides transparency on the ongoing work in Dharwad district.
