Navi Mumbai Constable and Aides Arrested for Murder in Love Triangle Case
In a shocking crime, a Navi Mumbai police constable and three of his associates have been arrested for allegedly murdering a man over a love triangle. The incident, which unfolded in Maharashtra, involved the constable strangling his friend, driving the body 200 kilometers to Satara, burning it, and dumping it in a farm well.
Details of the Gruesome Crime
The Satara police reported that Bandu Bhise, 49, a constable attached to the Rabale MIDC police station in Navi Mumbai, is the prime accused. He allegedly strangled Somnath Bobade, 30, at Kalamboli on February 6. Following the murder, Bhise and his aides transported the body in a car to Sukhed village in Satara, approximately 200 kilometers away. There, they set the body on fire and disposed of it in a farm well.
Investigation and Arrests
The crime came to light when the owner of the farm in Sukhed village discovered the partially burnt body on February 6 and alerted the authorities. The Lonand police station in Satara registered a murder case based on the initial medical report. Police launched a thorough investigation, reviewing CCTV footage from the area and questioning several car owners.
During the probe, authorities identified Bhise's vehicle on camera at the Khed–Shivapur toll plaza. He was called in for questioning on Tuesday, where he confessed to the crime and revealed the names of his accomplices: Vijay Pawar, 36; Kiran Gaikwad, 27; and Srinivas Lone, 25. All four were arrested on Wednesday.
Motive Behind the Murder
Further investigation uncovered that Bhise planned the murder after learning that Bobade was trying to woo a woman with whom Bhise was in an extramarital relationship. Bhise lured Bobade under the pretext of resolving the issue in Kalamboli and, with the help of the other three accused, allegedly murdered him. Bobade worked as a cab driver, adding a tragic layer to the case.
The woman involved had been married earlier but was currently estranged from her husband. Police stated they will record her statement as part of the ongoing investigation. The accused were produced before a court, which remanded them in police custody for further questioning.
Broader Implications
This case highlights serious concerns about misconduct within law enforcement and the violent consequences of personal disputes. The Satara police are continuing their probe to ensure all aspects of the crime are thoroughly examined. The community has been left in shock by the brutality of the act, which spanned multiple locations and involved premeditated planning.
