Tirupati Police Screens 300+ Students for Ganja, Two Positive

In a significant operation against the illegal smuggling and consumption of cannabis, the Tirupati district police conducted a special drive on Friday, subjecting over 300 students to ganja screening tests across the city.

Special Drive Led by SP L Subbarayudu

The district police wing, under the leadership of Superintendent of Police L Subbarayudu, has been implementing a series of measures to rid the temple city of the harmful effects of ganja use. A team of officers, including Tirupati East DSP Bhaktavatsalam, West CI Rama Krishna, and Alipiri CI Ram Kishore, held a counselling session for ganja addicts at the Nehru Municipal High School grounds in the city on Friday.

Zero Tolerance Policy

The police department made it explicitly clear that there would be zero tolerance in cases related to ganja usage. The district police procured ganja rapid test kits, which were used to screen over 300 students from various schools. Among those tested, two students were found positive for substance use.

Parental Involvement

Following the positive results, the police summoned the parents of the two students and provided counselling in their presence on Friday. The initiative aims to curb drug abuse among the youth and promote a healthier environment in the region.
